Character Name: Merlin / Emrys
Age: 22
Race: Warlock / Dragon Lord
Appearance:
Merlin stands quite tall and has a very lean physique. His hair, usually tidy and resting over his forehead, is almost as dark as raven wings. His strong cheekbones and knowing eyes, which are as blue as the lake of Avalon itself, give him an almost elfin appearance.
Personality:
Merlin is much more intelligent than he appears to those around him. He is extremely compassionate, brave, honourable, modest and wise. He shows exceptional talent and potential in his magical abilities and also in his enthusiasm to further his education despite the risks that accompany using magic in Camelot.
Magic abilities:
Merlin was born of magic and is said to be the greatest sorcerer to have ever lived. He has countless magical abilities far beyond his own knowledge.
History:
When Merlin was eighteen his mother sent him to her friend Gaius for help controlling his magic. Upon his arrival in Camelot, Merlin saved Gaius from a fatal fall off a balcony in his chambers. He gave Merlin a magic spell book in order to advance his skills, but advised Merlin to hide his powers, as the king, Uther Pendragon, had made all forms of magic illegal.
During his first week in Camelot, Merlin heard a voice calling him. Within a few days, he had followed the voice to the dungeons of the castle and discovered The Great Dragon, Kilgharrah. The dragon told Merlin that he was destined for great things, and that he will aid Arthur in his destiny to become king and unite the land of Albion.
As well as being Gaius' ward and apprentice, Merlin became Arthur's manservant and although the pair shared an antagonistic relationship at first, the two quickly began to trust each other and gradually formed a great friendship.
Current Location: Camelot
Current Occupation: Manservant
Roleplay Sample:
"Polish my armour, muck out the horses, clean my socks" The young warlock murmured to himself in a mocking tone as he reluctantly lifted one of Arthur's old socks from the bowl of filthy lavender water in which it had been soaking for the past half hour. He wrinkled his nose in disgust as the cloying stench of over-worked feet filled his nostrils for the third time that day, making him choke into his sleeve.
This is no good, he thought to himself, removing the second sock from the soapy water and dropping them both onto the stone floor of Gaius' chambers. He'd be damned if he was going to sit here any longer trying to scrub the offensive aroma out. Infact he began to wonder why he'd even attempted to in the first place as a new idea suddenly struck him.
After peering over his shoulder towards the door, just to be on the safe side, he turned once more to the pair of wet socks on the ground, and gave them an intense stare as he crouched over them to utter the magical words... "By áfeormian ond welstincende!"
His eyes shone brightly as the spell was incanted and Arthur's socks were immediately dry, filling the air with a pleasant fragrance and even going as far as to change colour, they had been so ingrained with dirt. Merlin grinned and stood up, grabbing the socks as he did so and holding them up proudly until a sudden rattling at the door forced him to swiftly hide them behind his back. "Gaius!..."
